Welcome to the N-back Cognitive Task! This task measures your working memory and attention.
Task Overview
Letters will appear one at a time on the screen. Your task is to identify matches based on the current N-back level:
- 0-back: Press ← when you see the letter 'X' (target letter)
- 1-back: Press ← when the current letter matches the previous letter
- 2-back: Press ← when the current letter matches the letter shown two positions back

Important Notes
- Respond as quickly and accurately as possible
- If unsure, it's better to respond than to not respond
- The task automatically adapts difficulty based on your performance
- Each session includes multiple trials with breaks in between
Example Sequences
1-back example: In the sequence "A B B C", press ← on the second B (matches previous)
2-back example: In the sequence "A B A C", press ← on the second A (matches 2 back)
